A true native of the Midwest, Amy James was born in Akron, Ohio. She gained much of her clinical experience working as a nurse in and around Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to serve in outpatient skilled nursing and hospice settings as well as Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) and intermediate care units in the hospital setting.
In 2018 she obtained her Master of Science Degree as a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner in Adult Gerontology from the University of Cincinnati, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Amy’s interest in Nephrology developed on a personal level, when her “Pop” developed kidney disease. Later, as a nurse practitioner student, Amy sought a training rotation at St. Clair Nephrology and Hypertension in St. Clair, Michigan. While there, she secured her professional interest in caring for patients with CKD, ESRD and post-renal transplant.
In the late summer of 2018, Amy’s path took her westward to Seattle, Washington where she practiced at Swedish Medical Center. While there, she was part of an innovative team that diagnosed, managed and coordinated care for medically complex patients.
In May of 2020, Amy found her way back to Nephrology when she joined the team at Renal Care Consultants. With her diverse background and keen interest in kidney disease, Amy is a natural fit with staff and patients alike. Her integrity, ethics and kindness are apparent to everyone she encounters.
In her spare time, Amy stays up to date on renal disease as a member of the American Nephrology Nurses Association, the National Kidney Foundation, and the American Society of Nephrology. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, the out-of-doors, and animals of any kind.
Amy takes pride in providing the finest care possible for her patients. She can be reached at: 541-618-4400.
